I can’t believe it’s finally here. We have been planning this trip for so long, and now here we are.
I spent last night Tetris-ing the items that made the final cut into my carry on. The selection is still very minimal and light weight. Mostly items that can be layered if needed. I packed some tanks, Piko tops, jeggings, my Rothys, a pair of Nike Juvenates, Knixwear bras, a Longchamp purse for any nice dinners and a canvas bag from Old Navy for day-to-day use.
Mom and Pop met us at our place this morning and then my parents met us to taxi us to the airport.
I didn’t really get to enjoy the moment. With this being my first international trip, my mind was spinning. Did I forget something? I’m sure I forgot something. Whatever is it, I can buy it if I need it or be okay with it. It’s just two weeks. Calm down!
After hugging my family good-bye in the airport drop-off lane, the five of us (mom, pop, T, me, and mom's best friend) were off to check in. Once we made it inside past security (which is my least, least, least favorite part of traveling), I grabbed a coffee, looked at my mail one last time, and then we boarded, headed to Atlanta.
We ate dinner in Atlanta. Nothing heavy, just a sandwich and a smoothie for me. And waited a few hours to board our next flight.
When it was time, we had our passports ready and got on the plane. And now here we are. The plane is nice enough as planes go, an A330. The first time I've been on a plane this size. T and I are watching lots of movies to pass the time. So far I've All I See Is You, Father Figures, Coco, and some of The Shape of Water.
This flight is more challenging than I anticipated. I can't get comfortable and I can't fall to sleep. I also can't read because it makes me motion sick (blah), and I didn't download any of my audiobooks (ugh). I am happy I bought the blanket from IKEA, since it's a little bit bigger than what's provided by the airline.
Hoping we'll be there soon! Ready to start the rest of our adventure.
