T and I went straight for the bagels and waffles. I toasted my bagel, layered it and my waffle with peanut butter and enjoyed a cup of coffee as we watched the passing traffic outside.
Checkout wasn't until noon, so when we finished breakfast, we shuffled back to our room just to rest and relax for the few hours we had left. This is a memory I'll treasure, because T and I never just rest. We never sleep in. We rarely ever spend time just enjoying each other's company after waking up in the morning. Normally we're on the go as soon as the sun is up. We jumped back in bed, threw the covers over us and snuggled while we watched a few episodes of American Pickers.

When the unfortunate hour came to start packing, I begrudgingly got out of bed and prepped for the day. Showered, packed, and ready to go, we said goodbye to our room and Metairie and set off on our way.
French Market Inn wasn't far away, and as soon as we pulled up we were so happy to be there.
Even though check in wasn't until 4, they were able to store our luggage and valet our car, so we could immediately start walking around.
Our first stop? Cafe Du Monde! That was all I had been thinking about for weeks leading up to this moment, and I wasn't disappointed. I was able to snag a seat close to the to-go window and our first waitress was lovely. She had a great sense of humor. We packed ourselves full of caffeine and sugar, and then we continued to walk the streets of the French Quarter.
T had read about Central Grocery and so we stopped there for lunch. We grabbed a muffaletta and sat, drinking a Coke out a vending machine and absorbing the history and the atmosphere. It was great. We definitely could not each the whole thing and ended up saving the rest for later.
We walked through Jackson Square, experienced the St. Louis Cathedral, and then listened to some street musicians. One group immediately caught out attention, Buku Broux. They were absolutely amazing, possessing talent and presence.
Then we stopped at H&M where I bought a beautiful trinket box, and afterwards we headed back to the hotel at 4:00. Let me just tell you, I was so excited to be staying there again! I fell in love with this place when I stayed there the first time and fell in love all over again. So much character. Brick wall after brick wall. Small hallways that force you to be close to people. Ivy, an angel, and fountains. Love, love, love. And the staff, man, they were great! So friendly!
T and I had some coffee from PJ's, which is right next to the inn. From there we walked to dinner, where T got an amazing sampler of all the necessities—gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, and creole shrimp. It was awesome. My pasta was good, but I'd definitely get the sampler if we went again.
We left there and walked down the river close to where the aquarium is. The sunset was beautiful, it was great to just walk with T beside me, and see some of the sights.
We ended the night with our second round at Cafe Du Monde. I was a happy (and stuffed) camper!
