Day 5: Morning Beignets

We got up early for one last Cafe Du Monde run.

I sadly ordered our last order of beignets and listened to the man with trombone playing in front of the cafe.

Once finished we walked towards the river and then back to the Cathedral one more time.

We said good-bye to Jackson Square and went back to the hotel to pack. I was really sad to leave.

T loves museums so we went to the World War II Museum, which was more incredible than I could have imagined. I have a few regrets: one, I regret that I was too tired from walking all over the French Quarter to be appropriately excited about the museum. It was amazing, but I just didn't have the stamina to get me through walking and being able to look at everything.

The second regret I had is that there were actually veterans there! So badly I wanted to smile, and say hi, and thank them for serving us, the American People, but I didn't. Shy, awkward me, I lingered, but couldn't muster up the courage to start a conversation and so I missed out. Maybe next time I'll be different if I have the same opportunity.

Our drive home from New Orleans seemed to take forever. We took turns, but even that didn't make it feel like it went by any faster.

The most beautiful thing about the drive home was the purple-orange sunset. Try as we did, we could not take a picture that captured the sunset's true beauty. Man, God is good and He knows how to create beautiful things.

I am so thankful T and I were able to take this trip and spend some time together. It seems like we miss each other in the day-to-day, too bogged down to really see or hear one another. Just thankful for the good times together! And can't wait until the next vacation.
