Minneapolis Day 2: Valleyfair

• Church
• McDonald’s
• Lemon Grass

The day started out with us waking up and going to church. It was a meaningful sermon for me because it talked about transformation and growth. (I plan to share about it on here one day.)

From there we stopped by McDonald’s for breakfast—two steak burritos and a hasbrown. It’s been so long since I’ve eaten at McDonald’s.

We parked, got into the park and it was all decked out with Halloween flair. It was a perfect day because it wasn’t crowded and the weather wasn’t unbearably cold. Annnd we got cheaper ticket prices by buying online! We started off with wooden rollercoaster first. And wouldn’t ya know it, there were two issues as we were waiting in line. Didn't make me feel super excited. If you've ever watched Mike Birbiglia and his skit about the Scrambler, that's all I could think about. The first issue was that the hydraulics stopped working on the car’s way back to the dock so Maintenance had to manually push it from a few feet back, up to the start.

The second time it came back, a girl's lap bar wouldn’t come up. Not the worst problem, but still a little... Uncomfortable. They eventually got her out and then because we stuck around through the wait, we got the front seats. I guess we figured if we were going to die we would do it some gusto and be in the front... They made sure our seatbelts were secure and we were on our way.

And I suddenly remembered wooden rollercoasters hurt.

I screamed louder than any of the kids on the ride. Mostly from fear that our cart was about to derail, lol. But it didn’t and we are here to tell of the tale. From surviving the High Roller, we went to Power Tower (by myself), North Star (never again), Renegade (ouch) and the Wild Thing.

I could talk about the bees around the park and how they were everywhere, but I won't. I will just say that they made eating an adventure in itself.

We took some fun pictures, rode the Wild Thing for a second time and then headed home I think to change and relax.

For dinner, we ate at Lemon Grass. Good for sushi and Thai food. I had the Chiang Mai Alley Noodles, which was crispy egg noodles topped with spicy chicken, yellow curry, picked mustard greens, shallots, dried chilies, and a lime wedge. It was amazing!
