Actually, this October filled with Otherness started in late September. I've been running low on energy for about 2 weeks, but in the midst of it all I have had a lot of fun, new experiences.
Hanging Out with Dad
My mom and brother went back to California to pick up the last of their things from the move and Dad stayed behind. What ensued was some rare quality time—lunches at E's Cafe together, T and I cooking daily dinners and hanging out afterwards for a little bit. That was the first time Mom and Dad have been separated for that long, and aside from a day where I was worried about him, everything turned out fine. But it did remind me of family dynamics and how each person builds their own role and what it looks like when they're gone.
Wilco
This was really a date night for T. He is a Wilco fan and I am not. I really tried to be—swaying to their songs, trying to take in the lyrics, but every time I found a happy spot they broke out into any rock jibberish and because I'm an introvert, I'll note the concert was on a Thursday night after a long day at work and after a week of taking care of my dad. Pack on the constant company during the week from my dad and a long Thursday, I was so exhausted. The highlight of the night for me was the tribute to Tom Petty and the visit from Jody Stephens.

Discipleship Conference
The day after the concert we headed to T's parents for a conference his mom was hosting. It was full of great information, but again I was so exhausted and spent that I couldn't really soak up the wonder of it all. I took the best notes I could and plan to return to them to reflect, but in the moment I felt fatigue setting in.

A Wedding to Remember
The cap to the longest two weeks ever was a wedding for my beautiful friend. The food was absolutely amazing and I loved the venue. When I go to weddings I can't help myself from imagining what I could of done differently—I always arrive at the same answer though. I would have eloped, so none of the decor, music, or food end up mattering. It really was a beautiful wedding and I was so happy to be able to share in their special day.
